Frequently Asked Therapy Questions

  • Yes. Most people feel some nervousness when reaching out. We move at a pace that fits for you. You don’t need to arrive feeling certain. You can bring your uncertainty with you.

  • Fit is foundational. My approach often resonates with people who are sensitive, reflective, and tired of carrying things alone. Many are navigating anxiety, overthinking, overwhelm, stress, burnout, trauma, or an inner sense of disconnection. Some have tried therapy, meditation, or personal growth work; it helped in ways, but the same patterns keep returning.

The intro call is a simple space to ask questions and get a felt sense of whether this feels steady and workable.

  • The first session is spacious and unhurried. You don’t need to tell your whole story. We’ll begin with what feels most important, and we’ll pay attention to pacing.

The first few sessions often include some intake and history-taking. We’ll do this in a way that stays human and collaborative, not rushed or clinical.

The most important part of a first session is to notice how you feel during and after the session. If you feel safe, accepted, and comfortable with me, we can discuss if you’d like to meet again.

  • Most people begin weekly. Some shift to bi-weekly as things settle or as changes integrate. Length of therapy varies. Some people come for a focused chapter of support; others stay longer as the process deepens.

  • Often, yes. Therapy with a Registered Social Worker (RSW) is covered by many extended health plans. Coverage varies by plan, so it’s always worth confirming directly with your insurer.

    Direct billing
Direct billing is available for the following insurers (subject to plan eligibility): Sun Life, Canada Life, Green Shield, Manulife, Desjardins, Equitable Life of Canada, Medavie Blue Cross, and The Co-operators.

Coverage varies by plan. Clients are responsible for any portion not covered. If you don’t see your provider listed, feel free to ask.

  • No. Psychotherapy is available only to Ontario residents.

Meditation and workshops (separate from psychotherapy) can be offered throughout Canada.

  • Effortless Mindfulness is not psychotherapy. It is an approach that involves guided practices and group learning, offered through Resting Mind. These offerings are educational and experiential in nature, and are not a form of mental health treatment.

Psychotherapy, by contrast, is a regulated health service in Ontario and is offered through Adam Vasey Therapy. Therapy involves a clinical relationship, individualized assessment, and treatment within a professional scope of practice.

While mindfulness and awareness may be part of psychotherapy, Effortless Mindfulness offerings are distinct from therapy and do not involve diagnosis, treatment planning, or clinical care.

People may engage in psychotherapy, Effortless Mindfulness offerings, or both, depending on what they’re looking to support. While distinct, the two can complement each other in meaningful ways.
